Scioto County law enforcement officials arrested an 81-year-old man on child rape charges and his 80-year-old wife for obstructing the investigation. The Scioto County Grand Jury indicted Ezra Wright, of Lucasville, on six counts of child rape on Friday, and deputies immediately went looking for him at his home.
His wife, 80-year-old Carolyn Wright, told officers he wasn’t there and had gone fishing. Officers didn’t buy her story and stayed nearby watching the home. They spotted a van leaving the property and pulled it over. The people inside the van confirmed that Mr. Wright was in the home with his wife.
Officers knocked on the doors with no answer. Fearing the couple might commit suicide, deputies forced their way in and found the pair hiding in a bedroom.
Police arrested Mr. Wright on six counts of child rape and Mrs. Wright for obstructing justice. Both are currently in the Scioto County Jail.
