A call about a dog in danger at a Wheelersburg Kroger quickly turned into an arrest.
Deputies were sent after someone reported a pit bull locked inside a vehicle with the engine off, windows up, and doors shut tight. Bystanders said the dog had been in there at least 30 minutes—and was acting aggressive.
With concern growing, dispatch called the dog warden and even paged the fire department in case they needed to get the animal out fast.
Then deputies tracked down the driver.
He was inside the store—with two children.
What started as an animal welfare call took a turn when deputies discovered the man had an active warrant out of Lawrence County.
The children’s mother was contacted and came to pick up both the kids and the dog.
Because Lawrence County deputies couldn’t meet at the line, Scioto County deputies transported the man to the Scioto County Jail.
Joshua Langdon was booked on a drug possession warrant. Authorities say Lawrence County plans to extradite him.
🐾 A QUICK REMINDER
Leaving a pet in a vehicle—even for a short time—can turn dangerous fast, especially with no ventilation.
In this case, it also led deputies to something more.
Sometimes, one call uncovers a whole lot more than expected.
