Daniel “Woody” Roth, 68, of West Portsmouth, died Friday, August 7, 2026 at SOMC. He was born April 10, 1958 in Portsmouth to the late Thomas and Betty Jo (Delabar) Roth. Dan was a forklift operator for almost 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion, James Dickey Post #23.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted and Joe.
Dan is survived by his fiancé, Trina Leslie and her two children, Cryslian and Kylie, two brothers, John Roth of West Portsmouth and Bill Roth of Portsmouth, three aunts, Becky Lauter, Marylee Smalley, and Kathy Delabar Owens, several nephews and a niece, a sister-in-law, Debbie Roth of Carollton, KY., and lifelong friends, Ron and Michelle Castle of West Portsmouth, special friends, Ray and Sue Blaine and Chuck and Cathy Graff. He also leaves behind his best buddy, his dog Bingo.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Larry Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Pond Creek. A visitation for friends and family will be on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the start of service at 3:00 PM.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the James Dickey Post #23, American Legion for those unable to attend this Thursday.
