Jean Allene Rammel, 91, of Portsmouth, passed away on August 3, 2026, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. Jean was born on June 18, 1935, in Portsmouth, the daughter of the late Robert James and Helen Adda Titus Boorman.
A homemaker, Jean was a 1953 graduate of Portsmouth High School, and she had worked for the former Marting’s Department Store for 10 years. She loved going to the ocean and especially enjoyed sunrise and sunsets on the beach. In her free time, Jean enjoyed reading Amish stories.
Surviving are her daughters, Catherine S. (Carl) Mullens of Dayton, Patricia A. Gray of Marysville, Cynthia J. (Steve) Justice of Lucasville, and Donna J. (Jerry) Preston of Fayetteville, GA; nine grandchildren, Robert J. Mullens, Rebekah S. Kiser, Adam T. Gray, Erik L. Gray, Cody C. Justice, Christopher S. Justice, Jamie N. Justice, Andrew S. Flaugher, and Megan L. Flaugher; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death on November 21, 2013, by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Earl Rammel. The couple married in Portsmouth on March 4, 1956.
She was also preceded in death by her brother Robert J. Boorman Jr.; and a son-in-law, Tom Gray.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Perry Prosch officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
