Portsmouth police located a man who had been entered as a missing adult Thursday afternoon.
Then they discovered he had an active warrant.
An officer found James Thomas at the Oasis convenience mart shortly before 1:30 p.m.
Thomas was detained while dispatch confirmed both pieces of information: he had been entered as a missing adult, and he was also showing an active warrant.
Once officers verified he had been found, dispatch cleared the missing-person entry.
Thomas was then taken into custody on the warrant.
Before he was transported, Thomas gave an officer permission to take his drawstring bag to his sister’s residence.
Police later cleared the warrant through the e-warrant system.
Thomas was booked into the Scioto County Jail on a criminal damaging charge.
So the missing-person case ended with good news for whoever was worried about him — police found him alive and well.
For Thomas, however, being found also meant a trip to jail.
