Portsmouth Police offered lifesaving aid to a man with a major arterial bleed, checked into reports of a meth stash, and heard all about a family feud on Monday. We break down the highlights in these 7 slides.
Tattooed Man
Just after 2 am, a Kentland Avenue caller reported a man and woman attempted to kick in his door. He described the man as having tattoos on his face.
Both subjects had left the scene by the time police arrived.
Methed Up
A Scioto Trail man called police at 11:31 am to report he was in hiding because he stole drugs from other people in the house and they were after him. He said he stole the drugs in order to turn them into the police. He also claimed the neighbors had a gun.
When police got to the scene they discovered the caller was high on meth and probably having a paranoid episode. He showed officers a small amount of meth but said there was a lot more in a floor safe in the front room.
Another resident of the home said he didn’t have a key or code for the safe. Officers confiscated the meth.
Hey, That’s My Stuff
- A woman contacted police at 12:44 pm to report a theft of prescription medication. She said the meds disappeared between November 7 and November 8. She suspects her ex-boyfriend is the culprit. The two argued the previous night and she obtained a protection order. Officers gave her a theft of medication form.
- Officers got a report from a Wayne Avenue woman who said someone stole her TV, wallet, and other items from her apartment at 1:33 pm. They took a report.
- A Thomas Avenue resident called police at 1:40 pm to report two packages taken from her porch.
- At 5:32 pm, a Gilbert Avenue caller told police a 38 special handgun was missing from their home. Officers took a report.
- Just before midnight, a caller reported someone breaking into the dumpster at Goodwill on Robinson Avenue. When police arrived, they discovered a man and woman, both with warrants from New Boston. New Boston police came to the scene to serve the warrants.
Hit With A Brick
Just after 7 pm, a McConnel Avenue woman called 911 and reported a man had hit another man with a brick.
Officers detained one man and then took him to jail.
Family Feud
A pair of feuding siblings at the Woodbine Apartments once again called police about their family squabbles. This time the sister contacted officers at 7:36 pm to report her brother keeps hitting her. She claims it’s been happening for over a week.
Police took information for a report.
Bloody Mess
At 10:30 pm, police responded to a 7th Street home for a report of a man bleeding profusely from his arm. The caller said the injury was the result of an argument the man had with his girlfriend.
Police described the injury as a major arterial bleed and assisted by applying a tourniquet. A second caller told dispatch the girlfriend cut the man and was now in the process of tearing up the house.
An ambulance took the injured man to meet an air ambulance. He was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital. Police served a search warrant and asked the fire department to help unlock a vehicle in front of the home. The incident is still under investigation.
Stranger At My Door
At 11:14, a Scioto Trail caller reported a stranger attempting to get in his back door. He said the caller took off but could not give a description of the suspect.
