Officers came to the aid of kids caught in the middle of a domestic dispute, and a woman raises a ruckus at a local clinic.
Woman Raises Ruckus at Clinic
A troubled woman, known for causing issues at hospitals and clinics, prompted a call to PPD Around 10:30.
A health clinic said she was being seen by an ambulance, but they weren’t sure if they had enough grounds to admit her to SOMC on mental health grounds.
Half an hour later, they reported she was in an ambulance but refusing treatment yet refusing to get out of the ambulance.
She asked for a taxi to King’s Daughters Medical Center. She did not want to go to SOMC for mental health treatment, and the medical staff didn’t think there was enough reason to force admission.
She told the police she had enough money for the taxi ride, and they called one for her.
An hour later, the clinic contacted the police because the woman was still in the lobby. She finally got in a taxi and headed to KDMC.
King’s Daughters Hospital contacted PPD at 12:39 pm to report the woman was at the hospital acting combative. Further, they said she was also suicidal.
Since she made suicide threats in the presence of medical personnel, they felt there were sufficient grounds to force her to go to SOMC via ambulance.
Rental Scam
A woman contacted police at 1:12 pm to report she was caught in the middle of a rental scam. She said she paid the tenant of a Dunlap Road home money for rent, got a receipt, and moved in.
However, the landlord made it clear the tenant wasn’t allowed to rent the place. She refused to leave without her money, and the tenant returned it to her when officers arrived. She called a taxi to pick her up.
Under the Influence
Just after 3 pm, officers answered a call at Subway for a report of a shoeless man acting as if he was on drugs. He left before the officers arrived.
Pinecone Collector Prompts Police Report
A 3rd Street caller reported an elderly woman in a robe walking up and down the street with pine cones in her hand. The caller thought she seemed confused.
Officers spoke with the woman who was simply a pinecone collector out for a walk.
Camping Out at the Post Office
Just after 7 pm, officers received a call about someone camping out in the lobby of the Post Office. They discovered a troubled woman with whom they have nearly daily contact.
They told her to leave the building, and she complied.
Kids In A Bad Spot
Just before midnight, officers responded to a Walnut Street home for a report of a woman screaming for help.
When police arrived on the scene, a man told them nothing was wrong and that he and a woman had just got back from dinner.
Officers asked to speak to the woman alone. She said the man woke her up, threw her belongings in the yard, and began arguing. She said the argument turned physical.
Officers took her and her four children to a friend’s house and also notified CPS due to the living conditions in the home.
Dead on Arrival
Officers responded to Harding Avenue for a report of an unresponsive woman at 7:30 am. Medics confirmed that the woman had passed.
The coroner released the body to the family who contacted a funeral home. Officers also contacted the woman’s son.
