Kids find human bones in Jackson Co.
The discovery of human remains by children Saturday morning in Jackson County has launched a multi-department investigation. The call came into the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office just before 11:30 am on Saturday, January 11. A father told police his children had discovered human remains on CH & D Road near Jackson.
Investigators from the Jackson and Gallia County Sheriff’s Office are on the scene along with members of the FBI and the Jackson County Coroner. A portion of CH and D Road from Dixon Run Road to Erwin Road has been closed off for the investigation and the Sheriff’s Office has asked that onlookers stay away from the scene.
Despite reports in other media outlets speculating on who the bones might belong to, officials say they aren’t linking them to any case yet.

“At this time, Investigators remain on the scene collecting any evidence that may assist in the determination of how the remains came to be at the location and what may have contributed to the death of the individual,” Jackson County Coroner Alice Frazier said. “No other information will be released on this case until the DNA collected matches an identity and we will not be speculating on any possible identities.”
The remains will be sent to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office in Dayton and then to the Ohio Bureau of Investigation for further analysis.
