Parents of Twins Indicted on Dozens of Child Abuse Charges
The parents of a pair of five-week old twins who suffered multiple serious injuries were indicted by a Scioto County Grand Jury on Friday.
Mom Sueann Carter, 27 faces 14 counts of felonious assault and a total of 44 counts of endangering children. Father Codi Allen also faces 14 counts of felonious assault plus 44 counts of endangering children.
The pair were arrested after an investigation by the Scioto County Special Victims Unit. Sheriff David Thoroughman said a Columbus hospital contacted Scioto County law enforcement to report a possible case of child abuse last Monday.
Medics reported that one baby had a broken arm, and both infants showed signs of hemorrhages in their eyes.
When detectives arrived at the hospital, they learned the babies suffered from multiple broken bones, including rib fractures, bruising, and injuries to their faces. Officials notified CPS, and the agency took custody of the children from the parents.
The pair remain behind bars with bail set at $300,000.
