Man Threatens to Shoot Up Portsmouth Senior Lofts Over Cigarette
Officers responded to Portsmouth Senior Lofts at 1:30 pm after a witness said a man became enraged when no one would give him a cigarette and threatened to shoot up the place.
Officers took a man into custody for aggravated menacing and booked him into the Scioto County Jail.
The man was released from jail and soon returned to the location. Police were again called.

Burglars Caught in the Act on Mound Street
Just before 10:30 am, officers responded to a report of a break-in in progress at a Mound Street home. Witnesses said a man and woman were inside the home, and the man was carrying a crowbar.
The pair took off running, and officers caught up with the man on Mound Street. Police said he had an open warrant for leaving Texas without permission. Officers took him into custody. They were unable to locate the female suspect at that time.
Woman Smashes 7th Street Window With Brick
A 7th Street resident contacted police to report that a woman was harassing her because she was obsessed with her significant other. She said the woman had previously thrown a brick through her window and was now lurking in the rear of her home and leaving disturbing notes.
Police checked the area for the woman but were unable to locate her. However, 45 minutes later, she called back to report the woman had returned. Police spoke to the woman and told her to stay off the property.
Pit Bull Attack on Auburn Avenue
At 8:16 pm, a caller reported a loose aggressive dog running around Robinson Avenue. Officers were unable to locate the dog.
At 10:15 pm, an Auburn Avenue caller reported an attack by a neighbor’s pit bull. Officers learned that the pit bull had bitten a man’s Great Pyrenees dog, and he’d beaten the dog off his animal. Police observed multiple bites on the dog.
Officers contacted animal control. The pit bull’s owner said it was usually chained up, but they weren’t sure how it got loose.
