A vacation nightmare at the Portsmouth, Ohio Quality Inn after guests looking for their complimentary breakfast made a disturbing discovery.
A guest detailed the insane Labor Day weekend incident on social media and SCDN confirmed details of the story by checking the SCDN Scanner recording. It all started on Sunday morning when guests woke up and headed down to the lobby in search of the breakfast buffet.
However, when guests arrived there was no food, no silverware, and no hotel employees anywhere in sight. Guests waited about an hour and then decided to check the office behind the registration desk.
That’s when the guest says they discovered an employee passed out face down in the office surrounded by pills. Guests immediately called 9-1-1 and attempted to wake the employee.
According to the guest, the employee woke up and fled the scene despite guests begging her not to drive. Witnesses say she nearly struck the child of a guest while fleeing the scene.
Guests then called the police and began to search for a number to call the hotel corporate office. One of the guests even jumped behind the counter and began to check guests out since there were no employees available to help.
The guest says they weren’t too surprised at the turn of events, since a completely different employee was high as a kite the night before and nodding out in front of guests.
The guest said they were furious at paying $300 and not even feeling safe to leave their room.
SCDN reached out to Quality Inn’s Corporate headquarters for a comment on the situation. Their representatives said they hadn’t heard about the incident yet and thanked us for bringing it to their attention.
“We would like to get more detailed information to report to the appropriate parties for further review. Moreover, the hotel’s staff at all levels is the face of Choice Hotels. We expect them to provide outstanding services, and we regret this wasn’t the case. “
