The Portsmouth Police Department received a troubling call at 8 pm on Saturday. 911 dispatchers were told that a man was beating on the victim’s door and she didn’t want to speak with him.
2 Officers responded to the Alexandria House at 811 Findlay.
They described the suspect as being on the 8th-floor balcony and yelling at them. At one point, they said he was hanging over the edge.
Portsmouth FD and Medics were called and instructed to not run with lights and sirens so as to not further aggravate the situation.

Within a few minutes, an officer had made his way to the top floor balcony, confronted the suspect, and deployed a taser to prevent him from jumping or further escalating the confrontation.
The suspect was identified as Corey Holbrook, 36, of Portsmouth.
Holbrook has 2 previous arrests for Domestic Violence and also a charge of Persistent Disorderly Conduct.
Portsmouth FD Medics briefly attended to Holbrook and then turned him back over to the PPD. Holbrook has been transported to the Scioto County Jail. His current charges are Assault, Aggravated Menacing, Resisting Arrest, and Obstruction of Official Business.
