Brenda Dee Buffington, 64, of Lucasville, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Dee was born on August 25, 1959, in Portsmouth, the daughter of Jacqueline Buffington Carpenter of Portsmouth and the late Gerald Paul Pierron.
Dee was a 1978 Portsmouth West High School graduate and she received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Shawnee State Community College. She worked for many years for the City of Portsmouth in the Water Works Department.
A member of the James Dickey Post American Legion #23 Auxiliary, Dee was a gifted artist who made beautiful quilts and other lovely fabric works, as well as woodworks and ceramics. She loved spending time sewing, quilting, and doing embroidery with her extended family at Stippling Stitches in Lucasville. She had been the proprietor of The Craft Shack, formerly located in Lucasville and Wheelersburg.
Her husband, Robert Henry Givens, preceded her in death on April 21, 2008.
Surviving is her mother, Jacqueline Buffington (Everett) Carpenter of Portsmouth; son, Joshua (Heather) Hebb of Athens; daughter, Tara Dawn (James) Ramey of Lucasville; three sisters, Kimberly A. (Bill) Penn of Lucasville, Diana J. (Marvin) Blevins of Chillicothe and Cathi J. (Harry) Mullen of Portsmouth; two stepbrothers, Aaron (Lana) Carpenter of Georgetown and Anthony (Alisha) Carpenter of Vanceburg, KY; a grandson, Christian Hebb; four step-grandchildren, Jayelyn, Alyssa, Brenton and Kyla Ramey; several nieces, nephews and their families; and her beloved dog, Crystal.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Friday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Acy Gibson officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour on Friday.
