Richard Michael Nash, Sr., 73, of Franklin Furnace, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force, passed away on August 10, 2024.
The son of the late Thomas and Estelle (Terrell) Nash. Rick grew up in an Air Force family. He was born on August 19, 1950, in Biloxi, Mississippi.
At the age of 17, Rick enlisted in the Marine Corps, which he valued highly. As part of this service, he fought in the Vietnam War. At the age of 21, Rick enlisted in the Air Force and traveled around the world with his wife and children. Rick retired after serving 22 years for his country.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Nash Jr. and sister Polly Cornell.
Those left to keep Rick’s memory alive are his wife of 54 years Debbie (Salyers) Nash, his daughter Rhonda Boyd and husband Matthew of Wheelersburg, his son Rick Jr. and wife Viktoriya of Wheelersburg, his five grandchildren Miranda (Nate) Pinkerton, Michaela Smith, Marisa (Joe) Snodgrass, Ricky Nash III, and Lincoln Nash, four great grandchildren, Charli Smith, Oliver and Olivia Pinkerton and Owen Snodgrass. Rick is also survived by his two sisters, Martha Haase and Dot Haase of Florida, one brother Aubrey Nash of Oklahoma and two sisters-in-law, Kay Stapleton and Audrey Dotson of Franklin Furnace along with many nieces and nephews.
A service honoring the life of Rick will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2024, at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg by his special long-time friend Tom Spradlin and his Pastor Aaron Reed. Interment will follow at Haverhill Cemetery with military graveside rights presented by the James Dickey Post #23 of the American Legion. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
