Regina Dalene Cox, age 51, of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, at SOMC Hospice after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on May 24, 1973, to Robert and Virginia Cox, Regina entered the world in Florida, spent her childhood in South Carolina, and, later in life, found a home in Greenup, Kentucky, and Portsmouth, Ohio.
Regina’s love for animals was unparalleled; she devoted countless hours to rescuing and caring for strays. Her passion extended beyond animals—she was known for her creative spirit, her love of music, with many family memories of concerts and festivals, and her joy in crafting. Remembered as a “firecracker” with an infectious zest for life, Regina’s vivacious spirit will be dearly missed.
Regina was preceded in death by her father, Robert David Cox, and her daughter, Crystal Leigh Cox. She is survived by her mother, Virginia McLeod Cox; her daughters, Lindsay Joann Cox and Alexandra Dalene (Corey Book) Watkins; her grandchildren, Alexis Toller, Darian Toller, Ava Book, and Mya Book; her sister, Rebekah (Nathanael) Weaver; as well as a community of friends who were impacted by her friendship.
There will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Regina’s honor to Sierra’s Haven 80 Easter Drive Portsmouth, OH., 45662.
