Martha (Nee Stump) Warner-Smith, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of the Lucasville community, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on March 16, 1925, in Otway, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Dudley and Ivy (Nee Kidder) Stump.
Martha was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by her unwavering devotion to her family. As a housewife, she dedicated herself to raising her eight children on her own. Her nurturing spirit and strong work ethic ensured that her family was well-provided for, even if it meant venturing into the woods to hunt for dinner. An avid fisherman and a skilled squirrel hunter, she shared her love of the outdoors with all her children, instilling in them the importance of hard work and resilience.
Martha had a green thumb, and her garden flourished with vibrant flowers and bountiful vegetables, a testament to her nurturing nature. In her spare time, she found joy in crocheting, creating beautiful handmade items for her family and friends. Her hands were always busy, reflecting her love for sharing her talents with those around her.
She is preceded in death by nine brothers: Elmer, Edward, John, Joseph, Albert, Dudley Jr, LeRoy, David, and Carry “Butch” Stump; four sisters: Birda Conshafsky, Mary White, Mildred Chamblin, Flossie May Butler White, two sons: Richard and Dudley Warner, two daughters: Alma Lucille Warner and Dorothy Jean Schmidt, and great-granddaughter, Jamie Fuller.
Those left to cherish Martha’s memory are four daughters: Margaret (the late Jack) Meredith of Sandusky, Emma (Mike) Dearth of Jackson, Judy Warner of Jackson, Oh, Janet (the late James) Fuller of Lucasville; 16 grandchildren, twenty-eight great- grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
