Carl Ray Jenkins Sr., 83 of Blue Creek, Ohio went home to be with his Heavenly Father on March 5, 2025 after a long, brave battle with dementia. Carl was born on March 6, 1941 in Greenup, KY to Maude and Henry Jenkins. Carl, known as “Jack or Papa” to most, lived an incredible life. He was known for his work ethic, willingness to help others, and talent in many areas. With very little formal education, he ascended to become an extremely skilled heavy equipment mechanic and operator. His work saw him become the Head Mechanic for various notable companies. This included Kokosing and Bizzack Construction Companies (among others). He retired as a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers #18 after 35 years and continued working as a Truck Driver for additional 10 years. Carl had a passion for riding, raising, and training horses. He had a great love for animals and was able to train them with a natural ease. This demeanor helped him in his most important role, Father.
Carl worked tirelessly to support his 3 children (Brenda, Carl Jr., and Rick) and his beloved wife Lois Ann Jenkins who stood by his side for 64 years. When he wasn’t working, tending to his property, or raising animals, his time was spent helping others. He served his family by building their home for nearly 50 years by himself. He helped relatives and neighbors by repairing anything from automatic transmissions to kitchen sinks. Lastly, he helped raise and influence numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grand-children, great-grand children, and great-great grand children. He was admired by many for his faith, hardwork, honestly, and sacrifice. The values were passed on to his children, namely his daughter Brenda who gave amazing care throughout his battle with dementia.
Most importantly, Carl accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior many years ago. The foundation of his life and serving Him. Carl is now at peace with Jesus and many loved ones who have passed on. Funeral visitation will be at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 12-2pm on Monday, March 10, 2025. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with interment in Sunshine Ridge Cemetery. The family would like to send a special thanks to SOMC Hospice and of those who provided comfort and care. Condolences can be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
