Mary Esther Cowgill, 86, of Wheelersburg, passed away Friday May 23, 2025. She was born February 23, 1939 in Columbus, a daughter of the late William and Berdie Mae (Lennington) Atwood.
She was of the Baptist Faith who formerly loved playing tennis, water skiing and playing Mahjong with her friends at Jamaica Bay, Florida where she spent her winters after retiring from Xerox.
Mary is survived by two sons, Steve Cowgill and wife Tonie of Minford, John Cowgill and wife Julie of Portsmouth; a daughter Cindy Webster and husband Scott of Port Charlotte, FL; two sisters, Norma (Dick) Frazier of Florida, Janet (Marty) Burke of Columbus, 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Elwood Cowgill; three sisters Stella (Kenny) Henry, Ernestine (Bill) Klein and Betty (Bill) Snider. Also many in laws, nieces and nephews that she adored.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 7:30 PM Thursday May 29, 2025 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg followed by Funeral Services at 7:30 PM. Final disposition will be at a later date.
