What started as a low-key birthday celebration quickly spiraled into a chaotic backwoods horror show — complete with a high-speed chase, a car wreck, and threats that are still flying days later.
A man and woman showed up at the sheriff’s office to report a wild birthday gone bad. According to the woman, things went sideways the moment her boyfriend and his cousin left to grab pizza. She stayed behind at the house with two other women — but it wasn’t long before someone suggested they jump in a car to “go look for the guys.”
That’s when red flags started flying.
She said something felt off from the get-go — especially when they insisted she ride in the front passenger seat. The drive turned downright dangerous when the woman behind the wheel allegedly began swerving into the wrong lane, nearly slamming into a Mustang, and then… turned off the headlights and floored it down Cannons Creek.
The passenger said it felt like they were going 70 mph in the dark around a tight curve before — BAM! — they crashed.
Enter the Ohio Highway Patrol, who responded to the scene. But the drama was far from over.
The injured passenger said she asked her boyfriend’s cousin for insurance info to deal with her busted leg — but he allegedly blew her off. When she turned to the car’s owner? Also ghosted.
Worse yet, she claims she’s since been bombarded with threatening texts and voicemails from the other women in the car — warning her to “watch out” and vowing to “beat her ass” if they catch her out.
Oh, and there’s more.
She says the cousin has been calling around to the Chesapeake and Huntington, WV police departments, trying to get her and her boyfriend jammed up. Now, she claims they can’t even leave their house without feeling hunted.
💡 Advice for Navigating Birthday Blow-Ups and Backseat Drama:
- Trust your gut. If a ride feels sketchy, don’t get in.
- Document everything. Save texts, voicemails, and photos of injuries or damage.
- In a crash? Always request insurance info. If someone refuses, call the police and document it.
- Being harassed? File for a protection order and report threats to local authorities.
Lawrence County Deputies took information for a report and are investigating. No word yet on whether charges will be filed, but one thing’s clear: this birthday bash turned into a roadside wreck — in every sense.
