A 91-year-old man was injured in an ATV crash on Big Pete Road, according to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office log.
Deputies and emergency crews were called to the 1600 block area of Big Pete Road in Green Township around 8:20 p.m. for a report of an injury crash involving a Yamaha ATV.
Initial information indicated the rider may have gone off a cliff.
Dispatchers advised Portsmouth Ambulance that another EMS crew had been paged, and fire crews were told they would need a side-by-side to reach the patient.
A medical helicopter was requested, but MedFlight declined due to weather conditions.
The log does not list details about the man’s injuries or exactly how the crash happened.
However, the disposition shows the patient was transported.
ATV crashes are dangerous at any age, but a crash involving a 91-year-old rider, rough terrain, and a possible drop-off is especially concerning.
