An afternoon crash at Gallia and Offnere streets ended with one man in custody on an open drug trafficking warrant.
Portsmouth police responded to the crash around 3 p.m.
While officers were investigating, they discovered that one of the men involved had an active warrant through the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office.
Police confirmed the warrant and took Joshua Simmonds into custody.
A-1 Towing responded to the scene and handled two vehicle impounds.
Police also transported one man to Southern Ohio Medical Center. The log did not list the extent of any injuries.
Simmonds was later booked into the Scioto County Jail on the open warrant for drug trafficking.
Officers also took information for a crash report and booking report.
The warrant is an allegation. Simmonds is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
