James “Duncan” Conquergood, 73 years of age, born September 11, 1951, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.
Duncan was a humble, devoted and faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. Being blessed by God’s grace and healing, Duncan had a life altering change during the year of 1987, at the age of 35 years. Surviving two (2) explosions heaping fire which engulfed 85% of his body, Family and friends were advised by doctors to say good-bye as he was expected to pass in less than 24 hours. BUT, this great and glorious heavenly Father had already made the new plans for Duncan’s life. In Duncan’s words and recollection, he envisioned this great and wonderful God, reaching down into the very pit of hell and with his great loving arms pulled him out of the fire and planted him on solid ground…Duncan said I deserved nothing but God gave me everything.
Duncan’s transformation in 1987, his outer appearance was changed by fire. In life, it’s not always what we see, but at times, it’s the unseen that needs the most change. Duncan’s inner change was of the spiritual sense as he realized there was something lacking in his life. It was Jesus. Change was inevitable. He started to learn and grow in the Lord. This made him the man of God, the man that loved the Lord with all his heart. His love for the Lord was reflected in everything he did and spoke.
Duncan has brought many blessings to those who knew him. He gave encouragement to those who need encouraged, a listener to those who need to be heard and a great story teller for those who need to learn about his Savior. He loved everyone and spend a life time making everyone laugh and going outside of their comfort zone.
Duncan is survived by his wife, Mary Christine “Chris” Conquergood, married October 9, 2010.
