Charles Wayne Rickett, 79, of Lucasville, passed away on November 30, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 15, 1946, in Lewis County, Kentucky, to the late Shelby and Hattie Hensley Rickett. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry and Francis Rickett; his sisters, Faris Gibson and Ruby Brannan; and his grandchild, Bailey Rickett.
Charles was a pipefitter and fabricator for over 30 years, known for his unmatched knowledge and experience—often teaching and guiding the younger employees who came to work alongside him. He was a proud United States Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion Post 471 and a life member of the AMVETS Post 2256.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jane Rickett, whom he married on May 20, 1967; two sons, Shelby David (Lisa) Rickett and Anthony Wayne (Rebecca) Rickett; two daughters, Tammy Lee Rickett and Loretta Jane (Pete) Schwendeman; a brother, James Daniel “Jim” (Edlena) Rickett; his sisters, Terry (Gary) Bryan, Georgia (Ben) Johnson, and Willie Idella (Ray) Daugherty; seven grandchildren, Felica, Richard, Angel, Lainey, Lucas, Maddie, and Karter; as well as many honorary grandchildren he and Nancy lovingly welcomed into their home over the years. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Military Rites provided by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and for one hour prior to the service on Friday, all at the funeral home.
