Area Passenger Train Service Gets Upgrade

A passenger train route with a stop in South Shore Kentucky is getting a major upgrade – it’s one of four routes serving Ohio the Federal Railroad Administration plans to expand. 

The Cardinal Line, which currently runs three days a week between Chicago, Cincinnati, New York City, and Washington DC with stops in Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Illinois will be upgraded to daily service.

Other lines receiving funding in Ohio are:   

Two of the selected corridors, 3C+D and Cleveland-Toledo-Detroit, were sponsored by the Ohio Rail Development Commission.  The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) helped sponsor the Midwest Connect corridor, and Amtrak sponsored the Daily Cardinal Service application.
