A New Boston woman and two men are behind bars after law enforcement said they were part of a brutal kidnapping and assault.
Deputies were first made aware of the crime when witnesses spotted a man covered in blood walking down State Route 140 around 9 am on Tuesday morning.
Deputies found the man in a field near Firehouse Pizza, and he told them a terrifying story. He said that he and another man were kidnapped and taken to a home on Ainsley Avenue in Wheelersburg.
The victims were restrained with zip ties while several people beat them with fists and weapons. He also tipped them off to the location of a second victim.
An ambulance transported the first victim to the hospital while deputies headed to the location of the second victim. That man confirmed that he had also been kidnapped and assaulted. He initially refused medical treatment but decided he wanted an ambulance after experiencing pain in his ribs.
Scioto County Sheriff David Throroughman said detectives obtained a search warrant for the Ainsley Avenue residence and began to process the crime scene. While they were there, two suspects showed up at the home, and a third was spotted driving down the street. Officers took all three into custody without incident.
Both victims were initially treated at SOMC. One has already been transferred to a Columbus trauma center, and the other may also require transfer to a higher-level facility.
Officers arrested 25-year-old Christian Cheyenne Brooks of New Boston for 2 counts of complicity to felonious assault, complicity to felonious assault, and two counts of complicity to kidnapping. The court set her bond at $200,000.
Eighteen-year-old Cameron L. Dixon of Portsmouth is charged with two counts of felonious assault, two counts of kidnapping, and tampering with evidence. His bond is set at $225,000
Neither Christian Brooks nor Cameron Dixon have any previous adult arrests in Scioto County.
The third person arrested is another story. Kaleb Dixon, 23, of the Ainsley Avenue address is currently out on parole for burglary. He was released on parole back in 2020 and had been busted on charges of assault, parole violation, and contempt during his parole.
This time, he was charged with two counts of felonious assault, two counts of kidnapping, tampering with evidence, and parole violation. He’s being held without bond.
