Jackson Avenue residents called 911 at 2:45 pm to report a man with a bloody face lying in the roadway.
Officers and EMS responded to the scene to help. The man said he’d fallen into the street and injured himself.
Medics treated him on the scene, but he refused to go to the hospital.
Bearded Man Wanders into Middle of the Road
Witnesses called 911 at 11 am to report a man with a white beard walking in the middle of Carey’s Run-Pond Creek Road.
When officers located the man, he told them he was headed to Speedway in Portsmouth and didn’t have any other way to get there besides walking. Deputies noted he had an injured foot.
Deputies offered to get the man an ambulance, which he declined. They also said they’d give him a ride to Portsmouth, but he refused.
Deputies advised him to stay in the grass and out of the road.
