A concerned West Portsmouth neighbor called 911 around 12:30 pm to ask for a welfare check on a neighbor she hadn’t seen in some time. She said her family had knocked on the door, but no one had answered, and she hadn’t seen her neighbor recently.
Dispatch noted that a squad had responded to the home in April to check on a woman who had fallen.
When a deputy arrived at the home, they looked in the downstairs windows and noted that everything looked secure.
About 15 minutes later, a caller asked for an officer to return. They said they had a key from the family and wanted to check inside since the woman was supposed to be home.
Once inside the home, the deputy discovered the woman deceased. The coroner released the woman to the family, and they called for a local funeral home who took possession of the body.
