The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatcher swung into action to get help for a child having a mental health crisis.
After receiving multiple calls shortly before 1 am that the child had attempted self-harm and attacked others, deputies found the child in the road and requested an ambulance.
Dispatch requested an ambulance, but neither Clay 139 nor Clay Rosemount were available. They sent for EMT Ohio, but they didn’t have a crew. Dispatch called Portsmouth Ambulance and tried to contact Clay again.
Medics from Portsmouth Ambulance were able to transport the child to the hospital around 2 am, and deputies followed to assist.
