Child Psychologist Indicted: 145 Child Porn Charges

Child psychologist indicted on child porn charges

If you read the news you know there are a lot of child predators out there but it’s even scarier when you find out they’re in trusted positions with plenty of access to vulnerable children. A doctor at Dayton Children’s Hospital was indicted on 145 felony charges for possessing child pornography last week.

Dr. Gregory Ramey was a child psychologist at the hospital and wrote a parenting column for the Dayton Daily News Newspaper.

Ramey, 70, was reported to the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force as the source of child pornography downloads. The Task Force notified authorities in his hometown of Beavercreek who notified the hospital. Dayton Children’s Hospital immediately placed him on administrative leave and later fired him.

In a statement, the hospital said, “In his professional role, Dr. Ramey was an advocate for children’s mental wellness and frequent speaker on issues of child endangerment and exploitation. Therefore, we were blindsided by the allegations of inappropriate behavior in his personal life.”

The charges against Ramey include 90 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, 26 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, 24 counts of attempted pandering, and two counts of tampering with evidence.

The hospital says the charges did not include any activity involving the hospital and that there was no evidence that he used work devices to access child pornography.

Ramey pleaded not guilty to the charges on Friday and was released on a $500,000 bond.
