Officers took Jonathan Byers, 48, of New Boston into custody for failing to register as a sex offender.
Ohio’s Sex Offender registry listed Byers as non-compliant for failing to provide his address to authorities. Byers was convicted back in 2008, when he was 32, for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Scioto County Common Pleas Court filed an indictment against Byers on August 21 and issued an arrest warrant on the 22nd. Officers booked him into jail on the 27th, and he appeared in court on Wednesday afternoon. An arraignment had been scheduled for September 12, but that was rescheduled. Byers is currently in the Scioto County Jail.
