Cleo Norma Jean (Bentley) Smith, 86, of Firebrick, KY., went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at MT. Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville, KY. She was born in Garrison, KY., May 5, 1938, a daughter of the late Joe Babe and Pearl Willis Bentley.
Cleo attended Firebrick Christian Baptist Church and loved to visit and talk with people. She loved to cook and take food to people, especially her world famous no-bake cookies and her spaghetti salad.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald Clay Smith; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Smith; three brothers, Art Bentley, Norman Bentley, and Joe Bentley; and four sisters, Audrey Boggs, Hattie Holbrook, Ilene Conley, and Violet Tinsley.
Surviving are four sons, Ronald Smith of Prestonsburg, KY., Robert (Lydia) Smith of Firebrick, KY., Donald (Vickie) Smith of Sunbury, OH., and Jerry (Tracy) Smith of Paintsville, KY; five grandchildren, Christian Stroup, Suzanne Smith, Erin Days, Clay Smith and Andrew Smith; five great-grandchildren, Jordan Stroup, Kaleb Stroup, Hailey Stroup, Gavin Stroup and Gavin Days; along with several other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be at 1 P.M. Friday, March 14, 2025, at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Raymond Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Collier Memorial Gardens in South Portsmouth, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
Jared Stroup, Jordan Stroup, Kaleb Stroup, Gavin Stroup, Clay Smith, and Andrew Smith will serve as pallbearers.
