Constance “Connie” VanGorder McGue Hoover, 77, of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at home under hospice care following a long bout with Alzheimer’s Dementia. On August 15, 1946, she was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Lowell and Louella Pyles VanGorder.
Connie was a 1964 Minford High School graduate and a long-time resident of Scioto County. On July 2, 1982, Connie married her now-late husband, Mark E. Hoover, Sr., at the New Boston Community Center. Together, they shared 26 glorious years with one another. Connie worked for 30 years and retired from USEC in Piketon, Ohio on August 8, 2003. Connie enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren most of all. She also enjoyed being outside, weeding, or cleaning up her yard.
Surviving family includes four children, Jack (Janine) McGue Frank McGue, both of North Carolina, Michelle (Amy Hightower) Hoover of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Mark (Patricia Mullins) Hoover, Jr. of Franklin Furnace, Ohio; six grandchildren, Kyle McGue, John Kerr-Jennice, Jr., Dakota, Izaiah, and Hannah Lockhart, Alyssa Hoover; one sister, Mandy (Josh) Staples; two nieces, two nephews, seven great nieces and nephews, and two very special cousins, David and Joseph Stockham.
Connie’s children would like to give a BIG THANKS to National Church Residences Hospice for all the help and support they offered in caring for our mother. You all were a God send!
There will be no visitation or services held per our mother’s wishes. Memorial contributions may be made to Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home, 6710 Swauger Valley Road, Minford, Ohio 45653. Interment will be held at a later date with immediate family.
