The Scioto County Commissioners voted to advance $1.2 million from the second half of the taxes collected from the Children Services Levy to Scioto County Jobs and Family Services to cover the cost of foster placement for January and February 2024.
The money will go to pay for foster parents and care in residential facilities. The cost of placing children in the county is high, in part due to the fact that many of the children in CPS care have mental health or behavioral issues that require expensive specialized care.
Commissioners unanimously approved the transfer of funds.
