Darlene Barker, 92, of Minford, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025 at SOMC Hospice. She was born December 24, 1932 in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Paul and Faye (Linville) Skaggs. She was a retired cook/cashier from Minford Local School District. Darlene was a member of Project Linus and loved quilting. She was also a member of Lucasville Eastern Star #495 and Harrison Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Roger Lee (Gwyn) Barker; two grandsons, Brigadier General Ed Barker and his fiancé, Amy, Thomas (Bethany) Barker; one granddaughter, Dawn (Matt) Barker-Potts; three great grandsons, Farran Barker, Jaden Barker, Asher Barker; three step grandchildren, Robert Madden, Angie Madden, Kevin Madden; four step great grandchildren, Genevieve Siegel, Lynsi Madden, Bethany (Hayden) Scott, Aiden Howard; one sister, Deloris Gilliam; a special daughter-in-law, Kay Howard, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Willis Boyd Barker on May 21, 2021; a son, Mark Wayne Barker; two brothers, Delmaine Skaggs, Silas Skaggs, and one sister, Gloria Mae Skaggs.
Funeral services will be conducted Noon, Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, with Pastor Mike Mounts officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 pm to 8 pm Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Additional services will be held at Noon Friday, January 24, 2025 at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, where friends may from 10:00 a.m. until the service.
