Detectives were called in to investigate after the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office notified them of an alleged plot to kill a judge.
An officer reported that a Lawrence County inmate housed in the Gallia County Jail told a fellow inmate he was upset with the sentence he received from a Lawrence County judge and planned to kill her when he got out of jail. He even detailed the weapon he planned to use and when he planned to shoot the judge.
Officers spoke to the inmate, who said he never made any threats against the judge. He says he believes his fellow inmate made up the story because he thought his girlfriend was cheating on him with a fellow inmate, and he’d refused to spy on him for the guy. He also said the man who turned him in was the one who had threatened to kill a judge.
