Donald Parish Schmidt, 76 of West Portsmouth, died Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at SOMC Hospice. He was born December 13, 1949 in Portsmouth to the late Bert E. and Victoria Skaggs Schmidt.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Crystal Dawn Seth.
Donald was a retired teacher from Washington – Nile School District. He loved spending time with his family, taking Cruises and being at the river.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie Hammond Schmidt, whom he married on January 7, 1976, a bonus son James Seth, and 2 brothers; Daniel (Sharon) Schmidt and Jim Schmidt, 2 grandsons; Phillip Parish Seth and Brody Hunter Seth, father-in-law, Bob Hammond, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 5:00 PM Monday, February 2, 2026 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Josh Gray officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday starting at 3:00 PM. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
