Hit and Run

A silver vehicle hit 3 parked cars in the 1600 block of 11th Street and fled toward Kendall and Gallia at midnight.

Thirty minutes later an officer spotted a car they suspected was involved in the accident at Woodbine Apartments and called for a tow truck.

An officer did speak to the vehicle’s owner on the phone. However, he said he wouldn’t come to the scene because he had an open warrant in Kentucky.

Closing Time

  • At 1 am, a 2nd Street caller reported a woman standing outside Patties and Pinks screaming and yelling. A second caller said the woman had moved into the road on Market Street and was carrying a trash bag. Police took the woman into custody.
  • A woman leaving Frank and Steins at 1:30 am, asked police to give her a ride home because a man was following her. When an officer responded, they did not observe the man in question and suggested the woman call a taxi. She refused and insisted she wanted a ride from the poilce.

Full Moon over Gallia

At 1:51 am, employees of Richard Noggins called to complain of a disruptive patron who mooned their bouncer and hit the building with her vehicle when she left. Officers notified the Greenup County Sheriff’s Office to watch out for her.

Suspicious Activity

  • At 2:28 am, witnesses reported a woman standing in the road on Coles Blvd. She later turned up in the lobby of KDMC looking for an officer. Police advised her to be careful when crossing the street.
  • A Grant Street caller reported someone knocking on her door at 3 am. She said she would shoot through the glass if someone tried to come in. Police requested she hold her fire until they could investigate. When police arrived, she said she’d spotted a teen and he’d run away when she yelled at him.

Panhandling Problem

One of two brothers known for aggressive panhandling on Gallia was spotted behind the Silver Palace after a report he’d been harassing customers at AT &T.

Officers could not locate him.

At 4:28 pm, a caller reported one of the brothers acting erratically in the Aldi parking lot. He then moved across the street at Speedway.

A few hours later, another brother was spotted at McDonald’s. An officer once again advised him to stay away from businesses and stop harassing customers. He left the area.

Drunk Dad Endangers Daughter

At 2:47 pm, witnesses reported a highly intoxicated man at 17th and Grandview who had a little girl with him. Police took him into custody and contacted the child’s mother.

She met officers at Mound Park. The woman has full custody of the child and was upset that family members allowed the intoxicated dad to take the child.

Police turned the child over to the mom and took the man to jail.
