A fake FBI agent targeted a Wheelersburg couple with a blackmail scam. The couple contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office just before 11 pm to say the scammer kept sending pictures of the couple’s house and the wife’s Social Security Card and demanding they send him Bitcoin.
The scammers said if they didn’t comply, they would send someone to ‘take care of them.’
The wife said she was attempting to get a loan through CashApp when a man she believed was a loan agent pretended to be from the FBI and demanded payment.

Officers advised them it was a scam and it was unlikely that anyone would bother them in person.
