A man contacted police to say that he thought his family had stolen his gun. He told officers he’d been admitted to KDMC for mental health issues last fall. At the time, he told relatives he resided with not to take his Smith & Wesson 44 Magnum from his dresser.
He told offices he’d asked for his weapon back multiple times since, but family members told him they weren’t sure where it was, and they couldn’t find it.
He provided officers with a serial number and police were able to determine a woman had pawned it a nearby shop in October of last year. Officers contacted the pawn shop, which reported they had sold the weapon.
Officers took information for a theft report.
