Gladys Louise Coldiron, 86, of Rubyville

Gladys Louise Coldiron

Gladys Louise Coldiron, a beloved and cherished member of the Rubyville community, peacefully passed away on June 5, 2023, at the age of 86.  Born on April 15, 1937, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Delbert “Buck” Stewart and Hazel Mabry Stewart Bivens.

Gladys’s life was filled with accomplishments and cherished memories.  After graduating from East High School in 1955, she began her career as an LPN at Mercy Hospital, culminating as an office nurse for Dr. Tombs.  Her commitment to her profession demonstrated her compassionate and caring nature as she selflessly provided comfort and healing to those in need.

A devoted member of Christ Brethren Church for over 50 years, Gladys found solace and inspiration in her faith.  Her love for her community extended beyond the church walls, as she dedicated her time and energy to caring for family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and elderly women in the church.

Gladys’s passions brought immense joy to her life.  She was an avid reader with a deep love for history.  She and her beloved husband, Harry, shared a passion for camping, creating cherished memories within the serenity and beauty of nature.  Gladys could often be found tending to her garden, her green thumb evident in the breathtaking blooms that reflected the beauty within her heart.

Above all, Gladys cherished every precious moment spent with her grandchildren.  Their presence brought light and laughter into her life, and she treasured their company dearly.  She showered them with love and affection, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts that will endure for generations.

Gladys leaves a legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness.  Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter Denise Coldiron, her grandchildren Derek (Tya) Coldiron and Emma (Zach) Coldiron, and her great-grandson Oliver Coldiron.  She is also survived by her sister Phyllis Duduit. Gladys was joyfully reunited in heaven with her parents, her husband Harry Wade Coldiron (August 29, 2006), and her son Harlan Wayne Coldiron (February 13, 1987).

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Christ’s Brethren Church in Rubyville, with Gerald Penix officiating.  Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Universal Cemetery.  Visitation hours will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.  The Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford is entrusted with the arrangements.  Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
