A Greenup County man was arrested by local police on multiple charges related to child sexual abuse material.
Police began immediately investigating the matter after discovering that James E. Stockman was in possession of sexually explicit images of minors. Stockman is also suspected of distributing the material on the internet.
According to reports, the Kentucky State Police seized many electronic devices from his residence during a search warrant, and upon reviewing the content, charged the 33 year-old-man with 20 counts of possessing child sexual abuse material. He faces one count of distributing child sexual abuse material involving a minor under the age of 12.
Authorities also say that Stockman has been charged with one count of a sexual crime against an animal.
Stockman was taken to Greenup County Detention Center. The arrest comes after an undercover investigation led by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), who aided local police with locating, interviewing, and arresting the suspect. The ICAC Task Force was developed in response to the increase in crimes against children.
If convicted on these charges, Stockman faces up to 10 years in prison for possessing child sexual material and up to 5 years for sexual crimes against animals.
