Gregory Roger Schneider, 68, of Portsmouth, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Greg was born on December 13, 1956, in Portsmouth, the son of Carol Sue Pollock Schneider of Portsmouth, and the late James Roger Schneider.
A 1975 graduate of Clay High School, Greg retired after 42 years as a water treatment operator for the 611 Building at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant. He was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Reds. A gentle and humble person, he was a good and kind man to all whom he met, never speaking a negative word about anyone. Greg had many friends at the Portsmouth Eagles Aerie #4285, and the former Moose Lodge of Portsmouth.
Surviving is his wife of one year, and companion of 20 years, Lori Lynn Benner Schneider. The couple was married on March 16, 2024, in West Portsmouth.
Also surviving is his mother, Carol Sue Schneider of Portsmouth; his daughters, Melanie Ann (Josh) Drake of Wheelersburg and Misty Dawn (Justin) Greene of Lucasville; two sisters, Sandra (Avery) Riggs of Lucasville and Marybeth (Reed) Potter of South Shore, KY; four stepsons, Derek Ward of Portsmouth, Jeremy (Erika) Ward of McDermott, Joshua (Felicia) Ward and Nathan (Jessie) Ward, all of West Portsmouth; five grandchildren, Anthony, Brady and Jalynn Drake, and Kylee and Emma Greene; and nine step-grandchildren, Kya, Kira, Paris, Keaten, Kenslie, Kaison, Aidan and Broden Ward, and Sloan Piatt; and his beloved dog of 19 years, Ty, and cat, Lou.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rick Clark, Minister, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. and one hour prior to services on Friday.
