A man called 911 at 3:30 am to report that his vehicle was stolen from the Party Time Bar in Portsmouth. Despite the incident occurring in town, he asked to speak to a Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputy.
Deputies learned that the man had an open warrant through their department and happily headed to the scene. On the way to the call, officers found the missing vehicle in a ditch on Pollock Road.
Police took the man into custody and learned that he had been in a car accident. He admitted to officers that he was a passenger in the vehicle and said he’d hit his head.
Offices called for a squad to take him to SOMC. Since there weren’t enough officers available to watch him due to storm-related calls, police issued him a summons on a warrant.
Officers learned the man’s sister was the registered owner of the car and that she’d reported it stolen from the Party Time Bar.
When they returned to the accident to have the vehicle towed, they discovered a magazine for an AR Rifle in the front seat of the car. Deputies arranged to have the vehicle towed.
