Hazel Geraldine Russell, 93, of Saint Paul, Kentucky, went to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior on September 7, 2023. Hazel was born in Greenup County, Kentucky, on July 18, 1930, to Dave and Nettie Wilburn. She served The Lord for 75 years.
Hazel loved God and her family. She attended South Portsmouth Community Church. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of others. She also enjoyed working in the garden and entertaining visitors. No one ever left her house hungry.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Raymond Russell; and her siblings Clyde Wilburn, Della Davis, Helen Russell, Jane Bloomfield, Robert Lee Wilburn, and Thelma Wilburn.
She is survived by one sister, Emma Wheeler of Abilene, Texas. She leaves behind her children: Marie Slone of Columbus, Ohio; Mike (Loretta) Russell of Otway, Ohio; Janie Faye (Jim) Chinn of Black Oak, Kentucky; Ray (Rita) Russell of Saint Paul, Kentucky; and Mark (Dawn Anne) Russell of Saint Paul, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren (Michael, Josh, and Ben Slone; Lindsey and Michael Russell; Crystal Dyer and Melody Bivens; Tyler, Nick, and Caleb Russell; and Meagan Russell); eighteen great-grandchildren (Hannah Browning, Arlis Stamm; Simon Bivens; Alex, Ian, A’Jai, and Madde Russell; Noah, Eli, and Isaac Hurn; Summer, Mikey, and Brooke Slone; Zach and Hailey Slone; Granger and Greyson Hampton, and Grant Brewer), and 2 great-great-grandchildren (Riley Browning and Hezekiah Slone); plus many friends who will cherish her memory.
Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky. Burial will be in the Russell Family Cemetery on Scaffold Lick Road in Saint Paul, Kentucky. Officiating will be Bob Grigson, Carl Wells, and Ray Russell.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday, September 11, 2023 from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and 10 A.M. until the service hour on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Mark, Tyler, Nick, and Caleb Russell; Steve Bivens, and Phillip Stamm. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
