Residents of Alexandria House called police just after noon to report a homeless man was sleeping in the common room. Officers spoke to the man, and he left the scene.
Officers were called to the 8th Street Homeless Shelter after employees said a man they’d ordered to leave the property was pacing back and forth near the building. Officers spoke to the man and urged him to move along.
Residents of Findlay Manor reported a homeless man sleeping in the lobby just before 8 am. When officers arrived, he left the area.
About half an hour later, residents of Alexandria House reported a man and woman sleeping in their common room who had a bicycle with them. They said the people did not live there. However, the pair left before officers arrived.
Residents of Hudson House called the police to report an apparently high man kicking doors at the apartment building. The angry man managed to break the lobby door before walking off toward Dollar Tree. Dispatch contacted PMHA to see if they could fix the door. Officers could not locate the man.
Portsmouth Police came to the assistance of a man near the floodwall and gave him a ride to the warming station.
EMS responded to a report of a man in the Kroger lobby with foot pain. When they arrived, they learned the man was cold and just wanted to get warm.
A Findlay Manor resident reported a homeless barefoot man hanging out in the laundry room and said the man had left without his boots. When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they gave the man a ride to the warming station. However, they learned it was closed. They allowed the man to sit in the jail lobby to get warm.
Police responded to Portsmouth Ambulance after a report that a woman had set up camp in their entryway and was refusing to leave. Officers spoke to her, and she gathered her things and left.
