Just after 4 am, multiple fire departments responded to a report of a house fire on Oak Street in McDermott.
When Rush Township Firefighters arrived at the scene, they asked for more help, and the Union and Morgan Fire Departments provided aid.
Firefighters said the structure was fully involved in flames and collapsed about 30 minutes later. Firefighters contacted AEP to shut off the power, and the utility said they would be there in about 20 minutes.
Around 8 am, officers responded to another fire, this time a bar blazing on Davis Road in Otway. When Union Township firefighters arrived on the scene, they said flames had fully engulfed the barn, and another nearby structure was in danger.
Firefighters contacted Adams Rural Electric to turn off the power. Around 9 am, Rush Township Fire also arrived to assist. The owner of the property asked to talk to the State Fire Marshall. Dispatch contacted the office and said the agency would call back.
