Johnny “John” Pack, 85 of Portsmouth, Ohio, formerly of Lesage, WV passed peacefully in his home on January 26, 2025 with his family around him. He was born February 03, 1939 in Beech Creek, WV to Sherman and Minnie (Blankenship) Pack. Johnny was a direct descendant of Valentine (Wall) Hatfield.
Johnny is survived by his children, Carrie Blankenship (Doug) of Barboursville, WV, Richard Pack of Huntington WV, Robert Pack (Nikki Moyer) of Cape Coral, FL, Margaret Johnson of South Shore, KY, Jessica Johnson of Portsmouth, OH; Brothers, Clifford Pack of Rennsselaer, IN, Ralph Pack of Lebanon, TN; sister Bessie Hesson of Rennsselaer, IN. He also leaves 7 Grandchildren, and 10 Great Grandchildren
Johnny was an Army Veteran serving in the Calvary Armored Division Hell on Wheels, based in Fort Hood, TX. He was a retired truck driver with Mills Trucking Company, awarded safety driver. Johnny was a talented, self-taught Bluegrass musician who loved to just jam with fellow “pickers”.
Johnny was preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife Connie (Johnson) Pack; 2 young siblings, Leonard and Lizzy Pack; brothers, Howard Pack of Rennsselaer, IN, Joe Pack of Glenwood, WV; sisters, Edith Varney of Gulfport, MS, and Marie Byrd of Rennsselaer, IN.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 1:00PM at D.W. Swick Funeral Home/ Wolfe- Nelson Chapel in Sciotoville, with Evangelist Floyd Barton officiating. Interment will follow at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation will be 11:00- 1:00, prior to the service at the funeral home.
