Joshua Lee Maxie, 48, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at SOMC, as the result of a motorcycle crash. He was born October 6, 1976 in Sarasota, FL to the late Terry Maxie and Tami (Abendschein) Maxie of Ironton.
Josh was a union Ironworker from local #769 out of Ashland, KY. He loved the outdoors and loved to travel, and was an avid gun collector. Josh never met a stranger and he was so proud of his two sons.
In addition to his father, Josh was preceded in death by a sister, Christina Maxie, and his paternal grandparents, Carlos and Shirley Maxie.
Josh is survived by his two sons, Andrew Maxie and Tyler Maxie, both of Portsmouth, a sister, Brittany Maxie (Jeremy Lavender) of Raceland, KY, three brothers, Jeremy Maxie (Heather) of Portsmouth, Justin Maxie of Portsmouth, and Brandon (Mykal) Maxie of Wheelersburg, the mother of his boys, Amy McClurg of Chillicothe, and several nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends that will all miss Josh dearly.
A visitation for friends and family, will be 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home and will be officiated by his uncle, Austin Stout.
