Suspicious characters kept Kroger employees busy.
Kroger employees thwarted a shoplifter trying to make off with a cart loaded down with groceries around 10:30 pm.
The manager stopped the woman at the door, and she fled to a newer model Monte Carlo and left the store. The employee described her as wearing a red t-shirt and carrying a black purse.
Officers searched the area around Kroger and Alexandria House but didn’t find anything suspicious.
Officers were called back to the store early the next morning when employees found a purse full of needles left behind at the self-checkout. Officers impounded the purse.
Police were back at the store later that day when workers said some shoplifters were hanging around in the parking lot waiting for a ride.
When officers got there, they learned one of the people had an open warrant from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office. Police arrested Robert Kerns for failure to appear and theft.
