Folks with stick fingers kept officers busy. Just after 8:30 am, Summit Street residents said a man and a woman stole a package off their porch and headed toward Wayne Hills on foot. Police could not locate the pair.
A few minutes later, Save A Lot employees said a man in a dark hoodie stole Little Debbie Cakes, a breakfast bowl, and some chips from the store.
Officers caught up with the man and read him his rights. Police arrested the man and returned the stolen items to the store. However, they couldn’t be put back on the shelf since they were damaged. Save A Lot served a no-trespass order on the alleged thief. Police booked Jeffrey Howard into the Scioto County Jail on theft charges.
About an hour later, a shoplifter hit Aldi down the street. Officers took information for a report and later caught up with a potential suspect on Mabert Road, whom they questioned regarding two separate shoplifting incidents. Police also picked up a video from the store.
Kroger employees called the police at 2 pm to report a man had cut off the security device, kept cell phone charges in place, and made off with multiple items. Officers took information for a report and said they would return after the holiday to get a video of the crime and a dollar amount for the stolen merchandise.
A man contacted police at 4:20 pm to report someone broke into his storage unit at the Storage Shack and stole multiple items. Officers headed to the scene and took information for a report.
A Jackson Avenue resident called 911 at 4:30 pm to report someone stole his vehicle. Officers took information for a report.
